Enables developers to understand the needs and challenges of people with disabilities, and how to apply the latest techniques to create responsive websites that meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.1 AA.

Learn practical web development techniques to ensure websites are fully accessible

The course covers all WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria, and includes an online assessment at the end, to gain formal accreditation for your accessible coding skills from Hassell Inclusion Academy.

The course can be split into Part 1 & Part 2 for your convenience, as it can be difficult for Developers to take time-out from their projects for too long.

Build your knowledge of code accessibility through 12 practical modules:

  • Who accessibility benefits, the tools and techniques people who need it use, ​ and a demonstration of key testing tools
  • Signposting content - the importance of semantic HTML
  • Links and buttons
  • Images and media
  • Text and content
  • Introduction to WAI-ARIA
  • Tables
  • Keyboard and gestures
  • Content that updates
  • User input (including forms and error messages, labels, and field autocomplete)
  • Custom controls and widgets
  • Review, accreditation exam and delegate feedback
