Enables those creating E-learning to understand accessibility principles, and how to design & author elements of accessible E-learning (text, images, media, navigation) making best use of accessibility features available in Learning Management Systems and Content Management Systems.

The course gives your teams the chance to see how the principles apply to 2-3 examples of their own E-learning, so they can see how accessible what they do already is, and how to embed accessibility in E-learning from the start.

It is appropriate for those creating learning for clients, or those doing it for use in their own organisation.

You will learn how to...

Make your eLearning accessible to as many of your users as reasonably possible, without sacrificing its interactivity and engagement

  • Introduction to digital accessibility
  • A brief introduction to some free tools you can use to test the accessibility of what you create (including the NVDA screen reader)
  • Key accessibility requirements of E-learning products
  • E-learning accessibility Checklist – a checklist to use in reviewing E-Learning for accessibility
  • Grading accessibility issues – what high-medium-low accessibility fails are, and how to use the grades to prioritise what to fix
  • Interactive accessibility review of 2-3 of your (previously shared) E-learning examples, using checklist, and NVDA tutorial
  • How to apply the learnings to create accessible blogs (using a CMS like WordPress) and PDFs
