Enables PDF authors to understand accessibility principles, apply them in their creation of PDFs from Word, Powerpoint, or InDesign, and use Acrobat Pro to add accessibility to any pre-made PDFs they are asked to publish.

PDFs are often overlooked when you are considering the accessibility of your website or app. But they are often a key part of the user experience, especially as they are frequently delivered as the result of entering information or buying a product. This course enables you to ensure that they don’t let down your customer experience.

You will learn how to...

Ensure all PDFs that you create or publish are accessible to as many of your users as reasonably possible

  • Review when PDFs should and shouldn't be used to publish information online
  • Better understand the user experience of accessible and inaccessible PDFs through assistive technologies (especially screen readers)
  • Ensure that PDFs created through Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or InDesign are accessible – understanding key accessibility checkpoints, how to create documents that pass them, how to test them using in-built accessibility checkers, and ensure accessibility features are included when you save them as tagged PDFs
  • Check and fix accessibility issues in PDFs using Adobe Acrobat Pro (where you don't have the source format file, or the source format has accessibility limitations)
  • Practical exercises in making accessible PDFs
